Tobey Maguire & Willem Dafoe break Marvel world record after appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home

As if appearing in the biggest movie of 2021 wasn’t enough, Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe are also breaking world records for doing so.

Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe have set a new Guinness World Record after appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The two actors broke the record for the actor with the longest career as a live-action Marvel character. Their official time is 19 years and 225 days. Their tenure began with 2002’s Spider-Man, directed by Sam Raimi. The previous title was held by Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, who played Wolverine and Professor X respectively. Their run began in X-Men in 2000 and concluded with Logan in 2017.

Spider-Man: No Way Home officially linked all the Spider-Man franchises into the MCU via its clever multiverse storyline. Aside from the current cast led by Tom Holland, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back The Amazing Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield, as well as a string of popular villains including Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

It’s fitting that Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe would break this record because the massive success of the 2002 film that they starred in together really showed how powerful Marvel could be at the box office. They saw success with Blade and X-Men before that but Spider-Man was a hit on a completely different level and showed that these films could achieve true blockbuster status.
