When the third season of Titans returns, it will be bringing Barbara Gordon along with it. Variety has reported that Savannah Welch has joined the cast as Gordon, Gotham City's Police Commissioner who used to be Batgirl until she was shot and paralyzed by the Joker, leaving her confined to a wheelchair. Gordon has a "combative relationship" with Bruce Wayne, but her life will get more complicated when Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) returns to Gotham, set on "rekindling their old romance and starting a new crime fighting partnership."
Savannah Welch has appeared in Tree of Life, Boyhood, Song to Song, and Six, and also became a spokesperson for the disability community after an accident in 2016 caused her to lose one of her legs. During last year's DC FanDome panel, Titans executive producer Greg Walker said, "We've got the second generation coming up. There was originally Batman and Jim Gordon, and now we have Nightwing and Barbara Gordon trying to kind of deal with the mistakes of their parents and it turns out to be a lot more difficult than anybody thought." The third season of Titans was ordered before the second season concluded, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced production to be delayed until late last year. Another change in the new season will find Jason Todd (Curran Walters) taking on the mantle of Red Hood as he becomes obsessed with taking down the Titans after their falling out last season.
The third season of Titans doesn't have an official release date, but it will be the first season of the series to be released on HBO Max.
