I didn’t watch the Golden Globes last year, but the internet was buzzing the next morning about how awesome hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were and how they should host everything under the sun from then on. Well, apparently the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has taken note as both Fey and Poehler will not only host next year’s Golden Globes Awards show, but also the following year’s ceremony. Yup, that’s two more years of the Fey/Poehler dynamic handing out golden statues. I like both actress/comedians, particularly in their respective TV roles in 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation and they undoubtedly have a great dynamic together, so why not lock them in for a couple of years, right? Better than playing the hosting shuffle game, especially when you’ve got a good thing going.
Here’s the details:
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have signed on to host NBC’s The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will be broadcast live on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. (PT) and 8-11 p.m. (ET) from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
As part of their deal, Fey and Poehler will also host The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2015.
The announcement was made today by Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Theo Kingma, dick clark productions and NBC.
“Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.”
“We are thrilled Amy and Tina have decided to return as hosts of the Golden Globe Awards for the next two years,” said Kingma. “Their return ensures that the Golden Globes will once again be the biggest, best and most entertaining awards celebration of the year.”
“Tina and Amy have a truly unique chemistry making them one of the most talented and captivating pairings of all-time,” said Allen Shapiro, CEO of dick clark productions. “We are thrilled to have them back in 2014 and 2015.”
