After hosting the 71st, 72nd, and 73rd Golden Globe Awards ceremonies, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be returning to host the upcoming 78th Golden Globe Awards, but there's a twist. Variety has reported that the co-hosts won't actually appear together in the same room as Tina Fey will be broadcasting from The Rainbow Room at the top of Rockefeller Center in New York City, while Amy Poehler will broadcast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.
The Golden Globes will take place at the end of the month, nearly two months later than typical as it was pushed back due to COVID-19. At this time, Variety says that it's not known whether "presenters and nominees will be invited to participate in person, by remote means or via a mixture of both (which is what the Primetime Emmys did last September)," but that by having two production bases on both coasts, it could "allow for more opportunities to include talent working on the East Coast or in Europe who might not otherwise be able to travel to Los Angeles." Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson will be announcing the nominees for the 78th Golden Globe Awards tomorrow morning, so be sure to check back for those!
The Golden Globes are actually taking the previous slot of the 93rd Academy Awards, as that ceremony was also pushed back due to the pandemic. The 78th Golden Globe Awards will air on February 28th at 5:00 pm PT/8:00pm ET on NBC, with the Academy Awards now following on April 25th.
