How's it goin' there, eh? I'm not sure if you're aware, but living in the Great White North comes with its fair share of perks. Take today for example. Not long ago, a moose lumbered over to my office window and started licking the glass as a way of getting my attention. Once I'd opened the window to see what was the matter, the moose informed me that THR had received word of a high-profile casting for the upcoming fourth season of FARGO on FX. According to THR, and the moose, Timothy Olyphant is joining the anthology series alongside Chris Rock for a key role.
Word has it that Olyphant will play the part of Dick “Deafy” Wickware for the series. Previously it was announced that Rock, Jack Huston, Jason Schwartzman, Ben Whishaw, Jessie Buckley, Salvatore Esposito, Andrew Bird, Jeremie Harris, Gaetano Bruno, Anji White, Francesco Acquaroli,, E’myri Crutchfield, Amber Midthunder and Uzo Aduba would all be playing parts for the events of the show's fourth season.
Created, written, directed and executive produced by Noah Hawley, who also serves as showrunner, Season 4 of FARGO takes place in Kansas City, MO circa 1950. The locale serves as the crossroads and collisions of two migrations — Southern Europeans from countries like Italy, and African Americans who left the south in great numbers to escape Jim Crow, both fighting for a piece of the American dream. In Kansas City, two criminal syndicates — one Italian, led by Donatello Fadda, one African American, led by Loy Cannon (Rock) — have struck an uneasy peace, which the heads of both families have cemented by trading their youngest sons. Olyphant has been quite the busy bee as of late. He's recently reprised his role as Joel Hammond alongside Drew Barrymore's Sheila Hammond for the third and final season of SANTA CLARITA DIET, and can be found starring as Seth Bullock for HBO's DEADWOOD: THE MOVIE. You can also catch Olyphant as James Stacy in Quentin Tarantino's ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, which is in theaters now.
If you ask me, Olyphant will make for a fine addition to the FARGO cast, who all hope to help deliver another season of murder, mystery, and moose cameos. Enjoy the rest of your day, ya hosers!
