Timothée Chalamet to play Bob Dylan in biopic from James Mangold

Timothée Chalamet already has some damn fine films under his belt, including CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, LADY BIRD, and THE KING; not bad for an actor who just turned 24 last month. What the hell have I done with my life. Chalamet already has some exciting projects just over the horizon, including starring as Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's DUNE, and now Deadline has reported that he's set to team up with James Mangold for a Bob Dylan biopic.

James Mangold (FORD V FERRARI) recently closed a deal with Fox Searchlight to direct GOING ELECTRIC and Timothée Chalamet is currently in negotiations to play Bob Dylan. The film is said to be set during Dylan's rise to fame as a folk music icon, and the outcry which took place when Dylan traded in his acoustic guitar for an electric and embraced rock n' roll. Per Deadline, Bob Dylan is "working actively" with both James Mangold and the studio on the film. Given the talent already involved, this should make for an interesting film; plus, we've seen a lot of musical biopics do quite well in recent years, such as ROCKETMAN and BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.

Timothée Chalamet recently starred in THE KING, which is streaming on Netflix, as well as Greta Gerwig's LITTLE WOMEN. As I mentioned above, he's set to star in Denis Villeneuve's DUNE, which is slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2020, but he's also part of the ensemble cast of THE FRENCH DISPATCH, Wes Anderson's latest carefully choreographed comedy/drama which is expected to hit theaters sometime this year.
