Tim Miller talks Colossus, Green Lantern, and putting Cable in Deadpool 2

Two trailers for the highly anticipated DEADPOOL were finally released several days ago and thankfully they were everything we'd hoped they would be; crude, action-packed, and hilarious. Tim Miller, director of DEADPOOL, is quite the fan of the trailers himself, as well he should be, and he's provided an enlightening breakdown of the trailer's over at Empire.

You may have noticed Colossus casually swatting Deadpool into a car during the trailer but according to Tim Miller, until they were actually shooting the scene, he was sure that Fox was going to step in and veto the appearance; but not only did Fox allow the appearance, they let Miller change his look as well:

As a fanboy I’ve always been like, 'That dude with the shiny skin is not fucking Colossus.' He should be this monstrous guy, and they actually let me make him seven-and-a-half feet tall. I did actually call Daniel Cudmore to ask him if he wanted to do this, even though he’d be entirely CG the whole time. He was very nice about it. He was like, 'I appreciate your offering, but nah.'

A shot was taken at Ryan Reynolds' appearance in GREEN LANTERN (please don't make the super suit green, or animated!) but Tim Miller reveals that there are several more GREEN LANTERN jokes in the film but that they may not make it to the final cut:

We shot a few more Green Lantern jokes, but I’m not sure how many will survive the cut. Ryan definitely had some Green Lantern issues to work out. We had about a minute’s worth of dialogue between him and Colossus where he talks about it, like, 'So a guy comes with a thousand-dollar suit and says, "We want you to play a superhero," but there’s no script yet and the release date is completely unmakeable…' He goes on this whole anti-Green Lantern run, but I’m not sure it’ll stay in, because probably not even half the people in the theatres will get those jokes.

Finally, Tim Miller commented that a certain character who fans have long wished to see on the big-screen could turn up in the sequel should DEADPOOL prove successful.

There aren’t really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail.

I know most of us are quite excited about DEADPOOL but I'm curious to see what the general public will think of a Marvel character who dispatches foes in a bloody fashion and routinely breaks the fourth wall while doing so. It's been such a long road getting here that it'd be an awful shame if DEADPOOL isn't a success. Fingers crossed, we already want more!

DEADPOOL will bless us with his "testicle with teeth" visage on February 12, 2016.
