I'm really looking forward to MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. Basically gothic X-Men directed by Tim Burton? Sign me the f*ck up! Hell, the last time Tim Burton did a superhero movie it was BATMAN RETURNS, and while this may be a divisive opinion, but I f*cking love that film (I even think it has the best romance out of all twelve live-action BATMAN films – and that includes the two '40s serials, the '60s pilot, his films, Schumacher's films, Nolan's films, and the two DCEU films). So blood = pumped.
Here's a new clip from the film:
While this was a scene featured prominently in the trailer, it was still cool to see again. I like that, while it does again have that X-Men feel with all the superhero powers and shit, it also feels fundamentally like a Tim Burton film. It has a more whimsical, storybook feel than other (more conventional) superhero projects do. While it's even debatable to call this a "superhero" film (because it really isn't), you know that's how this shit got greenlit.
Either way, I'm looking forward to it. Tim Burton has been a lot more hit-and-miss lately (and much more miss-than-hit), but he helped foster my love of films at a young age, and I'm always hoping for a comeback. Don't let me down this time Tim! It hurts too much…
MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, and Samuel L. Jackson, will be released in theaters September 30, 2016.
