The George A. Romero / Stephen King team-up anthology films CREEPSHOW and CREEPSHOW 2 are two of my favorite movies, and the posters that were created to promote those films are also some of my favorites. I love the image of the skeletal Creep welcoming people into the theatre to see his new collection of horror tales.
The poster art Tim Bradstreet has created for Shudder's upcoming Creepshow TV series doesn't have that awesome Creep element, but it does call back to the classic EC horror comics that inspired Romero and King to make CREEPSHOW. Bradstreet's poster can be seen below.
The Creepshow series will have a presence at the New York Comic Con this weekend. The show's executive producer and director Greg Nicotero will be taking part in the Shudder panel at the convention at 4:15 on Thursday, October 4th. He will be joined on the panel by Joe Bob Briggs and Shudder curator Samuel Zimmerman.
There will also be five hundred copies of the Bradstreet poster available at the Shudder booth at the convention, some of them signed by Nicotero.
Nicotero has said that,
Creepshow is a project very close to my heart! It is one of those titles that embraces the true spirit of horror… thrills and chills celebrated in one of its truest art forms, the comic book come to life! I’m honored to continue the tradition in the ‘spirit’ which it was created."
His entertainment career began with Romero's DAY OF THE DEAD, where he had an acting role and worked on the special effects crew.
Each episode of the Creepshow series, which is expected to premiere on Shudder sometime in 2019, will tell original stories and be directed by a different filmmaker. Nicotero's company KNB EFX Group will be providing the creature and makeup effects.
