TIFF 2022 lineup includes The Whale, Knives Out 2, The Woman King, and much more

It’s that magical time of the year when organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival announce the Gala and Special Presentations program selections for the 47th TIFF event on September 8-18. The TIFF 2022 lineup features 18 Galas and 45 Special Presentations, with much more to be announced soon. Some highlights include Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, which stars Brendan Fraser as a 600-pound man (and is getting Oscar buzz), The Greatest Beer Run Ever starring Zac Efron, Russell Crowe and Bill Murray, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, and Martin McDonagh’s follow-up to Three Billboards Outside Ebbings Missouri, The Banshees of Inisherin. The Nicolas Cage comeback continues, with Butcher’s Crossing also in the line-up (as a Gala), while Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor plays brothers in Raymond & Ray. And that’s just a start, with Midnight Madness picks yet to be revealed! JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray will be there, covering the festival for his thirteen year in a row (we even covered it remotely during the pandemic).

“We’re excited to welcome some of the most celebrated figures in movies back to Toronto to present their Gala and Special Presentation films,” said Cameron Bailey, TIFF CEO. “With stories that span six continents and feature performances you just have to see, this lineup delivers the rich experiences we wait all year for. Cinema is alive. Red carpets are back. And the best audience in the world awaits them in Toronto.”
