Looks like director Alan Taylor is going from Westeros to Asgard to the future as the director is now being set to direct THE TERMINATOR reboot for Paramount, Anna Purna, and Skydance. Taylor has mostly worked in television, but is making his feature film debut with THOR: THE DARK WORLD this November.
From Variety:
The studio had targeted Ang Lee early on, but a deal could never be reached. Other early targets included Rian Johnson and “Prisoners” director Denis Villeneuve. In the end, Taylor won the job in helping reboot the iconic sci-fi franchise.
Story details are still under wraps, but it has been confirmed that it will be a reboot of the series and the first of a new trilogy. The original “Terminator” Arnold Schwarzenegger has been linked to the new trilogy as well, but to what capacity has yet to be disclosed. Either way, it appears that the wheels are definitely turning for the franchise and we’ll be neck deep in silver exoskeletons, laser rifles, and time travelling soldiers come 2015.
THE TERMINATOR reboot is expected to arrive on June 26, 2015.
