Sony may have shared the rights to Spider-Man with Marvel Studios, but there are still plenty of Spidey-related characters for them to utilize in their own universe of spin-off movies. It was recently announced that the studio was deep in development on a VENOM movie, and now THR reports that Sony is working on a feature centered around Silver Sable and Black Cat as well.

Chris Yost, who was one of the writers involved with bringing THOR: RAGNAROK to life, will be tackling the script as he builds off of a previous draft written by Lisa Joy (Westworld). As with VENOM, the studio is keen to get this project off the ground as soon as possible. They're hoping to meet with directors soon and, should all go as planned, production is expected to kick off in the fall.

The character of Black Cat was almost included in Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 2, but wound up being cut from the script. Had SPIDER-MAN 4 moved ahead, Black Cat would have finally made her debut played by Anne Hathaway, but it was not to be. Not counting a brief appearance by Felicity Jones in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, we really haven't seen Black Cat fully realized on screen. Also known as Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat is an acrobatic cat burglar who has had a "long and tangled romantic history with Spider-Man."

As for Silver Sable, she's a mercenary who runs a company which hunts war criminals. Skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well as various martial arts, Silver Sable is an expert markswoman, swordswoman, and gymnast. Although her methods may sometimes bring her into conflict with other superheroes, she has also been an ally of Spider-Man on several occasions.

What do you think of a Silver Sable/Black Cat movie and who would you like to see in each role?
