It looks like fans were really eager for the first teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. According to reports via Variety, the teaser has scored 209 million views in its first 24 hours.
The results are across all Disney digital platforms. It’s an impressive showing, especially considering there was no hint that the teaser was being released Monday. It just happily fell into our laps a day after Easter as we were all waking up from the holiday. In terms of Marvel trailers, it is ranked fourth behind Avengers: Infinity War (230 million views) and Avengers: Endgame (289 million views), but those were epic conclusions to huge arcs with a lot of characters. As a solo effort, this is top-notch. The king of 24-hour trailer views is still Spider-Man: No Way Home, which raked in an amazing 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.
Fan reaction seems to be positive for the teaser, which concluded with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster unveiled as The Mighty Thor. For many, it was the money shot of the trailer and it was wise to save it until the very end. We also got appearances from the Guardians of the Galaxy, another fun treat for MCU fans. Some are suspecting that a longer version of this trailer will be attached to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but that is mere fan speculation at the moment.
Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Tessa Thompson, Thor: Love and Thunder hits screens on July 8, 2022.
