Although I'm a tremendous fan of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the Asgardian's standalone movies themselves haven't always worked for me, and while I know some had the opposite reaction, I didn't genuinely enjoy a Thor movie until the arrival of Thor: Ragnarok. Director Taika Waititi was able to bring something special to the saga, and Chris Hemsworth was clearly enjoying himself and brought that enthusiasm to his subsequent appearances. All of this has led to me looking forward to the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder quite a bit, and Hemsworth took to Instagram today to announce that the sequel has wrapped production.
"That’s a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder, it’s also national don’t flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate," Hemsworth wrote. "The film is gonna be batshit crazy off the wall funny and might also pull a heart string or two. Lots of love, lots of thunder! Thank you to all the cast and crew who made this another incredible Marvel journey. Buckle in, get ready and see ya in cinemas!!"
In addition to Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the upcoming film will also feature Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, Jamie Alexander as Lady Sif, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and Russell Crowe as Zeus. And as you can see from the image Hemsworth shared on Instagram, director/co-writer Taika Waititi will also be back as Korg. Thor: Love and Thunder is slated to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
