The early reactions to Thor: Love and Thunder are making their way online following the film’s world premiere, and while full reviews are still embargoed, the social media chatter is very much allowed and it’s praising the film’s humor, action, and a terrifying Christian Bale.
The social media embargo was lifted following the film’s Hollywood red carpet premiere, which took place on June 23, 2022. Judging from the early reactions, Marvel has another hit on their hands as Phase 4 continues to soldier on. Much of the praise is being heaped on the film’s humor, which seems to expand on what director Taika Waititi did with Thor: Ragnarok, the electrifying action, and a terrifying turn courtesy of Christian Bale playing Gorr the God Butcher. Natalie Portman is also receiving positive notices for her return as Jane Foster which gets a jolt as she takes on the mantle of The Mighty Thor. You can check out some of the social media reactions below!
Per the movie’s official synopsis, “The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”
