Kat Dennings is still staying in the Marvel family with the Disney+ series WandaVision, but, the actress believes that her character of Darcy Lewis, who debuted in 2011's THOR, won't be returning for the next installment, THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER.
Dennings has been making the rounds promoting her new holiday comedy FRIENDSGIVING and during a recent interview with "Entertainment Tonight", she was asked if we would see Darcy in the next THOR film, which is currently gearing up to begin production in Australia. Dennings revealed she hasn't heard anything yet which leads her to believe that her character will not be making an appearance:
"No, still no idea! I don't think I'm in it. I feel like I would have heard by now. So literally my answer is I have no idea, I have even less an idea than I had before."
Darcy played a sizable role in the first THOR movie and the character returned once again in the sequel, THOR: THE DARK WORLD. Things took a different direction with 2017's THOR: RAGNAROK and her character did not join in on the intergalactic action. Dennings was asked if her character could be added to the sequel after WandaVision and she feels anything is possible when it comes to the MCU:
"I don't know what Love and Thunder's premise or script is. I don't know. I think anything in Marvel is possible. Once you're in the MCU, I mean, you're in it. They can do whatever they want. I don't have any idea what it could be but I'm sure they could figure it out if they wanted to."
Dennings' THOR female co-star, Natalie Portman, is returning as Jane Foster in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER but only this time she will be taking up the mantle of Thor in the film. The actress was asked about that development and she said she's very excited to see it:
"I thought it was genius. The most genius thing I've ever heard. I think it's so brilliant. She's a rockstar actor and she can do anything. I'm just so excited, as a fan. I'm just excited to watch it."
I doubt there is room for Dennings in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER but I'm glad she's sticking around the MCU via WandaVision. The show will be the first series in the new era in live-action Marvel TV and, along with the other Marvel series that are upcoming, they will be heavily connected to the movies of the MCU. This makes it very possible for characters from the show TV shows to make appearances in the greater MCU.
