It was only earlier this morning we passed along word that YOU'RE NEXT director Adam Wingard was going to be taking the helm of the Legendary Pictures monster mash GODZILLA VS KONG. And while that is still a ways off, we have news about Michael Dougherty's monster flick starring Godzilla.
Today we found out that THE FINAL GIRLS' Thomas Middleditch is joining the ever growing cast of Dougherty's mega sequel GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, which to date already includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobbie Brown, and Charles Dance aka the bad guy in LAST ACTION HERO and GAME OF THRONES.
I am really looking forward to Dougherty's GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. More so, in fact, than Wingard's GODZILLA VS KONG. If for no other reason than I know Dougherty has an old school GREMLINS kid-horror sensibility that I think will work wonders on a big budget. After all, too many of these reboots have been over the top gritty.
Here's hoping Dougherty and Co. bring us something with a sense of fun. Just like TRICK R TREAT and KRAMPUS. Which flick are you looking forward to the most? GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS or GODZILLA VS KONG? Let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is directed by Michael Dougherty from a script by Dougherty and Zach Shields. The film stars Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, Randy Havens, and Sally Hawkins.
GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is slated for release on March 22, 2019.
