This trailer for The Raid will break every bone in your body

Sometimes there’s nothing better than sitting down to watch a movie that makes you question how many people were put in the hospital. THE RAID is certainly one of those, an action film that looks absolutely brutal, full of crazy stunts and martial arts and people generally beating the shit out of each other. The buzz coming from the film has been incredible following its showing at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and it was quickly snatched up by Sony Pictures Classics for release in then U.S.

The film’s story is pretty simple- a bunch of cops trying to get to a drug dealer in an apartment building full of gang members looking to fight with them. (Perhaps this should have been called ATTACK THE BLOCK?) But really, the story in a film like this is just a framing device in order to get people into as many violent situations as possible. 

Yahoo has just released a new trailer for THE RAID, which now comes with the bizarre subtitle REDEMPTION. 

The film hits theaters in Indonesia today, but we have to wait until March 23rd to see it on these shores. Here’s a tip for you folks who can’t wait- MERANTAU, Gareth Evans’ last brutal kung fu action film, is available right now on Netflix Instant and dvd. Watch that sucker, which pretty much introduces the uniquely Indonesia martial art of Silat to the world of cinema, and you’ll understand why the wait for THE RAID is so hard.
