The appeal of a good slasher movie is hard to define. Is it the villain, the kills, the structure, the formula, or the characters? Really, it’s all these things combined, which makes the sub genre a little more difficult to innovate than most fans are willing to admit. This is why UNTIL DAWN has me absolutely climbing the walls with excitement. It looks to be, quite simply, the best slasher film ever played.
Yes, UNTIL DAWN is a slasher-film inspired video game tailor-made exclusively for the PlayStation Move. Based on the trailer below, fans are in for a survival horror game treat that breaks from traditional monster shooting trappings. Instead, your main objective seems to be “keep your friends alive” in the midst of a deranged killer’s rampage. Sort of like premise for the FRIDAY THE 13th game made for the NES, but playable.
Still, it sounds easy enough, right? Except for the buzzsaw suspended from the ceiling and whatnot. Check out the trailer and synopsis below for a taste of the scares UNTIL DAWN has in store for your Move. No release date has been announced, but PS3 owners can look for it in 2013.
One night, you and seven other teenagers are on a remote mountain on the anniversary of your friend’s mysterious death. The power’s out, there’s no phone reception and you’re trying to get the hot cheerleader to notice you. What could possibly go wrong? Keep your friends alive during a night of horror in the spooky cabin-in- the-woods game Until Dawn, designed to give players the ultimate interactive experience in fear via the PlayStation Move controller.
