This Is Us will end with its upcoming sixth season

Although I've never watched This Is Us, I certainly haven't been ignorant to just how explosively popular the drama series became from the very beginning. Following the lives of the three children (Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley) of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore), This Is Us mixes a contemporary storyline with both flashbacks and flashfowards packed with plenty of emotional revelations, but all good things must come to an end.

It's been announced by THR that This Is Us will be coming to an end with its upcoming sixth season, but fans have known this was coming for some time as creator Dan Fogelman has always envisioned a six-season arc. "We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, so we have a very direct plan," Fogelman told THR in 2019. "I have script pages I have written and I’m writing that really are deep, deep, deep into the future. We have a plan for what we’re going to do, and I know what the plan is." The series is currently nearing the end of its fifth season, and while it's not known just how many episodes the final season will consist of, THR expects that it will likely include around 18 episodes as that will be "enough to carry the series over the 100-episode threshold typically needed to secure a lucrative off-network syndication deal and triggering a cash infusion for Fogelman and Disney." Over the course of five seasons, This Is Us has received widespread acclaim and plenty of awards, so I've little doubt that the final season will continue that trend as the story of the Pearson's comes to an end.

Will you be sad to see This Is Us conclude next year or is it a good time for the series to wrap up?
