When The Walking Dead debuted on AMC nine years ago I never thought it would last this long. Yet here we are in the show's tenth season with 139 episodes to date and no end in sight. Moreover, the show spawned a spin-off series Fear The Walking Dead and earlier this year reports came down that a third Walking Dead series was in production. Up until Sunday the third Walking Dead show had no official title. That all changed last night during the midseason finale of The Walking Dead when AMC not only dropped the official title but a brand new teaser! Check it out:
That's right. The title of the third series will be The Walking Dead: The World Beyond. From the trailer it almost looks teen based with the cast noticeably younger than the other two series. OneĀ thing of particular interest to Walking Dead fans is the black helicopter in the trailer. It's the same helicopter with the "three ring group" that took Rick Grimes away last year. Could Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes show up in this new series? To quote the Magic Eight Ball, "all signs point to yes."
The Walking Dead: The World Beyond will "feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come of age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad."
The third Walking Dead show will star Alexa Mansour, Aliyah Royale, Hal Cumpston, Nicolas Cantu, Nico Tortorella, Julia Ormond, and Annet Mahendru and is set to shamble onto the small screen Spring 2020.
