The time for tons of Oscar-baiting movies is almost upon us, and nothing is a better reminder of that than a movie with elegant people in a period setting speaking of betrayal and lust, all before ripping off those elaborate costumes and gettin’ it on. TULIP FEVER – based on the best-selling novel – is just that film, and is about a painter (Dane DeHaan) who falls in love with a woman (Alicia Vikander) he’s been hired to do a painting of, who just so happens to be married to the man who hired him (Christoph Waltz). This is why they must commit their acts of love in private, and the new red-band trailer leaves little to the imagination.
The film, directed by Justin Chadwick (MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM) also stars Jack O'Connell, Zach Galifianakis, Judi Dench, Holliday Grainger, Matthew Morrison and Cara Delevingne with a script from Tom Stoppard (SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE). The terrific ensemble cast is a great reason to check the movie out, the other reason being, well, everything you just saw.
TULIP FEVER hits theaters September 1.
