Things aren’t looking good for The Last of Us and Uncharted movies

Last year a movie based on The Last of Us video game seemed like a sure thing, and although Sony's Uncharted film hasn't been able to move past the development stage, it is scheduled to open on June 30, 2017. But neither project has seen much movement as of late, and Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann gave a rather discouraging update on both of them during a conversation with IGN.

Druckmann on THE LAST OF US:

I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place and it kind of entered development hell like these things tend to do. There hasn't been any work done on it in over a year and a half.

As for UNCHARTED, Druckmann said, "Every once in a while they'll come in and they'll present to us: here's the script, here's what we're thinking. We'll tell them what we think works, what we think doesn't work. That's where we're at. Last I heard is they got a new screenwriter, but we haven't seen anything in a while."

I highly doubt that UNCHARTED will make its current release date, since it doesn't even have a director yet, however it certainly doesn't sound like either film is anywhere close to heading into production. What do you think will happen with the planned video game adaptations?

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the fourth and final installment in the Uncharted series, will hit shelves on May 10, 2016.
