Things are getting bloody on the set of Halloween Kills

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The HALLOWEEN 2018 sequel HALLOWEEN KILLS is about two weeks into its filming schedule, and co-producer Ryan Turek has been posting a picture from the set every day on his Instagram account. Sometimes these pictures aren't much to get excited about; a shot of his chair, a bowl of candy corn, a crew member's shirt. But sometimes they're enough to make me smile that another HALLOWEEN is currently in production.

I've put a handful of Turek's Instagram posts below. A tease of a selection of "Bloody" wardrobe, a weathered jack-o-lantern, a look at how the crew are creating a creepy atmosphere during an exterior night shoot, and – most importantly – a bloody knife. Michael Myers is back to his slashing ways.

HALLOWEEN 2018 ignored the events of every previous HALLOWEEN film except for the 1978 original, and HALLOWEEN KILLS is going to have a very strong connection to the original film itself. In addition to having Jamie Lee Curtis return as heroine Laurie Strode, the film is set to feature several characters that were first introduced in 1978: Kyle Richards is reprising the role of Lindsey Wallace, Anthony Michael Hall is taking on the role of Tommy Doyle, Robert Longstreet will be playing Lonnie Elam, Nancy Stephens is on board to play Nurse Marion, and it has been rumored that Charles Cyphers will be back as Brackett. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle is also in the cast, possibly making another masked cameo like he did in HALLOWEEN 2018.

Also returning from HALLOWEEN 2018 are Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, and Jibrail Nantambu as Julian. Dylan Arnold is likely to be in there as Allyson's boyfriend Cameron Elam, son of Lonnie.

Director David Gordon Green has written the screenplay for HALLOWEEN KILLS with Danny McBride and Scott Teems. The film doesn't have an official synopsis yet, but Curtis has said that the film will deal with trauma, as the previous movie did. It will

really unpack the first movie, bringing back all those characters whose lives were affected by what happened in 1978."

HALLOWEEN KILLS is scheduled to reach theatres on October 16, 2020.

Once KILLS wraps, there will be a "short breather" before filming begins on another sequel, HALLOWEEN ENDS. Scripted by Green, McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, that one is scheduled for an October 15, 2021 release.

Malek Akkad is producing these films with Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, and Curtis serve as executive producers alongside John Carpenter and Couper Samuelson. Carpenter will also be composing the score.
