These Fear the Walking Dead promos take advantage of their L.A. locales

A companion series to THE WALKING DEAD is not needed.

Now that we have that obligatory comment out of the way, lets look at what’s exciting about the upcoming 6-episode season. If you’re not caught up, Fear the Walking Dead is set in L.A. and stars Cliff Curtis (TRAINING DAY) and Kim Dickens (GONE GIRL) in what will follow the original outbreak of Walkers. The series will be executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert, so it’ll be in much of the same hands.

Three new promos have hit to give us a taste of what we’re in for, and while zombies (Walkers) are largely the same in any show or movie, it’s the characters and locations that really help to shape the story and our investment in it. These videos are the best teasers I’ve seen so far as they really capitalize on what we HAVEN’T seen in The Walking Dead. As with everyone else, I hope this companion series will dare to differ from the original show and give us something new instead of more of the same.

Fear the Walking Dead’s 6-episode season will air this August on AMC.
