A new tale of Christmas folklore is twisted into a paranoid mythical slasher story with There’s Something in the Barn. The production company, Charades, has just sold their horror comedy to major markets all over the world with multiple deals. The film comes from Norway filmmaker, Magnus Martens, who is a veteran TV director of series like Fear the Walking Dead and Luke Cage. 74 Entertainment and XYZ Films who have produced Dead Snow have also produced this film.
The synopsis according to Variety reads,
“The film follows the Nordheim family who have happily moved to their old family farm in the Norwegian Mountain. They lives turn into hell and torments when they come across the trickiest Nordic folklore creatures known as the Barn Elf.”
The horror satire features actors Martin Starr, known from Freaks and Geeks and the MCU Spider-Man films, Amrita Acharia, who can previously be seen in Game of Thrones and Jeppe Beck Laursen, known for The Last Kingdom. Additionally, both Martin Starr and Amrita Acharia previously starred together in the 74 Entertainment and XYZ film Dead Snow 2.
Charades struck deals ahead of the movie’s world premiere in world wide markets that includes Germany (Telepool & Capelight), Spain (A Contracorriente) UK (Vertigo Releasing), Switzerland (Telepool), Portugal (Cinemundo), Scandinavia (Scandinavian Film Distribution, Poland (Monolith), Hungary (ADS), Czech Rep & Slovakia (AQS), Romania (ADS), Adriatics (MCF Megacom), Baltics (Best Film), Russia (Arna Media), Lebanon & Gulf (Falcon), French-Speaking Africa (Cinemundo), Australia and New Zealand (Kismet) and India (Pictureworks).
There’s Something in the Barn is set to have its world premiere at Sitges and Fantastic Fest. The movie is scheduled to be released on November 10.
