Yesterday Warner Bros. dropped a whopper of a release schedule in regards to its DC line-up. Between DC and Marvel (and even Sony), comic book fans have a lot to look forward to for the rest of the decade. Going by almost unnoticed was its future plans for LEGO movies. THE LEGO MOVIE, featuring a stellar ensemble cast led by Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks (among others) brought in $468 million worldwide on roughly a $60 million budget. Given those numbers it’s only a matter of time before more LEGO is brought in and it looks we have some dates to go along with ’em.
The next LEGO flick in the works is that of the Ninjago variety which is currently slated for a September 23, 2016 release. After that would be a sequel to THE LEGO MOVIE on May 26, 2017. The next two dates are for unspecific Warner Bros. animation projects but word on the street is that if the LEGO flicks keep bringing in those numbers, we can expect a second Ninjago move on May 25, 2018 and an end to the LEGO trilogy on May 24, 2019. That is, of course, barring any Marvel LEGO flick that might pop up on the same day, in which case they would push it up to March.
If nothing changes, expect THE LEGO MOVIE 2 on May 26, 2017.
