Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Some lame news tonight as we hear Netflix's amazing original French 8-episode series MARIANNE with Victoire Du Bois, Lucie Boujenah, and Tiphaine Daviot will not be getting a second season. Creator Samuel Bodin took to Instagram to let us all know the bad news, writing:

There won’t be a second season for MARIANNE. We are very sorry and sad about that. But we will see you in other stories…

The first (and only) season sports a killer 93% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Smart and scary with the most unsettling pair of eyes since Nicolas Cage in Vampire's Kiss, Marianne is pure nightmare fuel.

If that wasn't enough, Mr. Stephen King praised the series last year, tweeting:

If you're one of those sickos–like me–who enjoys being scared, MARIANNE (Netflix) will do the job. There are glints of humor that give it a STRANGER THINGS vibe. It also has (I say it with all due modesty) a Stephen King vibe.

MARIANNE tells the tale of a novelist who realizes her terrifying stories are coming true, and she returns to her hometown to face the demons from her past that inspire her writing. It was created & directed by Samuel Bodin who also wrote the series along with Quoc Dang Tran. Du Bois, Boujenah, and Daviot's co-stars include Ralph Amoussou, Bellamine Abdelmalek, Mehdi Meskar, Alban Lenoir, Mireille Herbstmeyer, and Pierre Aussedat.

All 8 episodes hit Netflix back in September. Check out the show's must-see trailer below and then make sure to watch the series on Netflix tonight!
