If you’re a fan of one of the best TV shows of all time, Freaks and Geeks, then you should take notice of this mini reunion planned for next year. We know that the upcoming VACATION reboot will include the original Griswolds Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo, so that’s exciting. Now director John Francis Daley revealed that a Freaks and Geeks reunion is also in the works for the film, with Daley (Sam Weir), Samm Levine (Neal Schweiber), and if all goes to plan, Martin Starr (Bill Haverchuck).
Dalye told Vulture that he will be appearing in a cameo role, along with HORRIBLE BOSSES co-writer Jonathan Goldstein. He went on to reveal the possible reunion: "I don't think I can give them away! I don't think I can even give away what my role is. I don't know if anyone even knows this yet, but Samm Levine, and it's looking like Martin Starr, will also be in the film."
The short-lived series had Daley, Levine and Starr in the roles of the geeks on the Paul Feig and Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks. It would be very cool if they reprised their TV roles for the film, and while I don't see that happening, I'm sure the trio can do something great. Daley also confirmed that Anthony Michael Hall will not be back in the reboot. That does make sense considering they had a different actor play the part of Rusty Griswold in each movie.
The VACATION reboot is set for an October 9, 2015 release.
