Aside from Jack Black's Po, the KUNG FU PANDA films haven't exactly been brimming with bamboo eaters; however it seems like that is set to change with Dreamworks KUNG FU PANDA 3 as our first look at the film reveals a variety of the new pandas Po will discover, one of which will be his biological father. Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!
Po's father, Li (Bryan Cranston), is described as "a really funny, jovial dude who loves to play. He's the dream dad," as well as a "master of chilling." The other prominent new panda is an overeager, amorous young female panda named Mei Mei (Rebel Wilson) who is super into ribbon dancing. Jack Black cautions that those expecting Po to put the moves on her may be disappointed:
Po's a little freaked out, since he's never been around a female of his own species, I don't think he has game in that realm yet.
USA Today debuted the first images from KUNG FU PANDA 3, check them out below and have a pre-groan at the cringe-worthy antics the baby panda's will surely get up to.
While things certainly seem to look nice and light in those photos, it won't be too long until a menacing supernatural villain called Kai begins to pose a threat to the village and the world. Po will have to train his fellow pandas in martial arts in order to fight back. I've been pleasantly surprised by both KUNG FU PANDA films so I hope that this third installment will continue the fun. In addition to newcomers Bryan Cranston and Rebel Wilson, KUNG FU PANDA 3 will see Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, David Cross, Lucy Liu, and Dustin Hoffman returning as well.
KUNG FU PANDA 3, which has changed its date twice already, is set for a January 29, 2016 release.
