The X-Files revival close to being greenlighted at Fox; eyes short order

I want to believe. You want to believe. And now it seems the revival of "The X-Files" is closer than ever. But seeing is believing, and it could still be a while before "The X-Files" will hit the air. Now TV Wise is reporting that it's very close to being greenlighted, with Fox close to giving an official go-ahead to a revival of their iconic science fiction series which originally aired between 1993 and 2002.

TV Wise shares that the network has settled on a “short-stack” order for the revival and while the exact size of the order is yet-to-be-determined, chances are it will be less than ten episodes. It should be stressed, however, that talks with sister studio 20th Century Fox Television are still on-going.

Sources also say the network "is aiming to make a big announcement just ahead of their upfront presentation in New York City this coming May." I thought the news of a "Twin Peaks" revival was exciting, but if "The X-Files" gets the green-light I'm going to explode with excitement! I want to believe, dammit!

It's not a done deal yet, but stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are expected to return for the new run, and if FOX is able to work around their schedules (don't forget that Duchovny also has the upcoming "Aquarius" and Anderson has been busy on several projects, including NBC's "Hannibal") production on it could start as early as this summer .It is understood than an offer has also gone out to Mitch Pileggi and that other key cast members will also return. Creator Chris Carter will write and direct the new episodes, and will also serve as executive producer.

Fingers crossed that this happens, folks. We'll keep you updated.
