Last week we learned when the upcoming 6-episode event series revival of "The X-Files" would be filming and now Deadline is reporting on even bigger and more exciting news: when we will see it premiere!
Fox is giving "The X-Files" its strongest launching pad, debuting the event series behind the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 24, and continuing with its time-period premiere the following night in its regular Monday 8 PM time slot, taking over for "Gotham", which is expected to return in the spring.
The new X-Files chapter hails from series creator Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
From Fox's initial press release about the return of the series:
Thirteen years after the original series run, FOX has ordered the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES, a thrilling, six-episode event series which will be helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.
