ITN Studios, the company that sent Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey out into the world earlier this year, has picked up the distribution rights to the horror film The Woman Under the Stage, and while they haven’t announced a release date for the movie yet, they have unveiled a trailer for it. Dread Central recently got the exclusive first look at the trailer, but now you can check it out in the embed above.
Directed by Ezekiel Decker, who also crafted the screenplay with Logan Rinaldi, The Woman Under the Stage has the following synopsis: A young woman comes to discover just how far she will go to achieve immortality while receiving the role of a lifetime in a mysterious stage play said to be cursed.
The film stars Jessica Dawn Willis (Silhouette), Matthew Tompkins (Sicario), Phil Harrison (12 Mighty Orphans), April Hartman (On Becoming a God in Central Florida), Robert Gemaehlich (Tokyo Ghoul: re), Ashley Spicer (Blood Reunion 3: Hunters), Natali Jones (Dead Awake), Jonathan Lamar Egbuna (Area 57: Project 24), Charles Leon (Space Marines), Andrew Neve (Dancing With Myself), John Frederick (Greyhound), Cole McKeel (Homo Erectus), Beau McKeel (Grand Prix: The Winning Tale), and newcomers Carlos Cortez, Annette Cummins, and Claire Robinson.
The Woman Under the Stage was produced by Mitch McLeod, who made an impressive drama called Silhouette on a budget of $25,000. Decker had a slightly larger budget to work with on this film. Stuart Alson and Nicole Holland served as executive producers, with John Frederick, Pamela Leak, and Marc Rouse co-executive producing. Matthew Roy and Matthew Tompkins were associate producers.
This is the second feature for Decker, whose feature directorial debut was the 2019 drama / adventure / mystery Dancing With Myself. I haven’t seen that one, but I really liked Silhouette, so I’m interested in checking out The Woman Under the Stage – and I also thought it looked pretty good, based on the trailer.
