While season 2 of Netflix's hit series The Witcher is currently in production, the streaming service is also working on two prequels to the show. One of them is a limited series called The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set over a thousand years before The Witcher and is set to star Jodie Turner-Smith, and the other is an animated feature called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
Nightmare of the Wolf is going to focus on the character
Vesemir, the mentor and a father figure for Geralt of Rivia. The story will explore his early years as a Witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.
If the leaked running time for the animated feature is correct, it's not going to ask to take up much of your time. Netflix subscribers saw that the page for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf briefly listed a running time of 81 minutes. That running time has since been removed, but of course somebody got a screen cap before it disappeared:
Very little is known about the animated feature at this time, but now we might know how long it's going to last. I loved the first season of The Witcher, so I'm on board to check out anything Witcher-related that Netflix wants to show me.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is expected to be released through Netflix sometime in 2021.
