Harvey and Bob Weinstein of The Weinstein Company are making big plans to bolster their presence on the television scene with several projects in the pipeline, including a proposed 10-part series with Frank Darabont based on Dimension’s film version of Stephen King’s THE MIST and a continuation of the SIN CITY universe with a new series from Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, according to the NY Times.
We've known for a while that The Weinstein Company has been working to develop a small screen version of their hit franchise SCREAM to the small screen, but now the company has revealed that they’re currently working on a “Sin City” series, with Bob Weinstein sharing the the company is hoping to quickly follow the August release of the film SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, directed by Miller and Rodriguez, with the “Sin City” television series.
I'm a bit more excited by the prospect of having Frank Darabont return to horror on television with a 10-part series based on his take on Stephen King's THE MIST. While I think the film is excellent and shouldn't be remade, I can completely get behind a whole new series born of the experiences of others caught in the titular phenomenon.
