The Warrior Season 2 trailer is a roller coaster of martial arts insanity

CINEMAX today unveiled the first trailer for the sophomore season of WARRIOR, which has many of its characters going to war as the rivalry between two crime families explodes in acts of excessive violence and intrigue.

Created by Jonathan Tropper and based on the writings of Bruce Lee, WARRIOR takes place in the late 19th century, during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown. The series follows Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a hatchet man for the Hop Wei, one of Chinatown’s most powerful Tongs (Chinese organized crime family). Season two follows rival Chinatown Tongs as they fight for dominance amidst the growing anti-Chinese fervor that threatens to destroy them all.

The new season will re-introduce fans to a variety of new faces in addition to bringing familiar ones back to the fold such as brothel madame Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng), Hop Wei head Father Jun (Perry Yung), tong heir Young Jun (Jason Tobin), Fung Hai tong leader Zing (Dustin Nyugen) as well as a new recruit and fighter, Hong (Chen Tang). Joining the aforementioned cast members for more gritty, action-packed crime drama are Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Langley Kirkwood, Hoon Lee, Christian McKay, Joe Taslim, Joanna Vanderham, Tom Weston-Jones, Celine Buckens, Chen Tang, Miranda Raison, and Maria Elena Laas.

The 10-episode season debuts on October 2 and holy hell do I now feel an overwhelming urge to watch season one before the new installments drop. Do you see the martial arts madness happening in this trailer? Look at those costumes! Listen to those bones breaking! Why didn't any of you tell me WARRIOR looks this good? Shame on you all! Well, okay, shame on me, but I'm still mad about it.

What are your thoughts on WARRIOR? Are you excited about this second season? Let us know in the comments section down below.
