Those of you who have been escaping from our current reality with AMC's post-apocalyptic zombie series will likely be disappointed to learn that the current season of The Walking Dead will come to a close a little sooner than expected, and I think we all know who to thank for it — COVID-19, you little bastard.

We've seen productions shut down all across Hollywood over the past few weeks, and unfortunately, the shutdown is also affecting post-production work on many movies and TV shows which had already wrapped, and that includes The Walking Dead. AMC announced today that, "Current events have unfortunately made it impossible to complete post-production on The Walking Dead Season 10 finale, so the current season will end with its 15th episode on April 5th. The planned finale will appear as a special episode later in the year." In addition to the delay of the finale of the tenth season, AMC also pushed back the release of The Walking Dead: World Beyond last week. The spin-off series was slated to debut on April 12th, right after The Walking Dead's season finale, but the series will instead debut later this year.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is set ten years after the zombie apocalypse and will feature two young female protagonists as it focuses on "the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad." The twelfth episode of The Walking Dead's tenth season, which featured the departure of Danai Gurira as Michonne, aired several days ago, which leaves just two more episodes before the season comes to a premature end.
