Over the course of this past year, most if not all of THE WALKING DEAD fans I know jumped ship on the series. I haven't watched an episode since Shane kicked the bucket in season 2, so I can't speak on the show's supposed drop in quality. That said, it can't be all bad as the show is still the number one drama on cable. And I'm sure it will sell like gangbusters on Blu-ray.
And speaking of which, today Lionsgate announced that they will be bringing AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead: The Complete Eighth Season to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital August 21st. The Complete Eighth Season Blu-ray and DVD release is stocked with special features including three audio commentaries and three featurettes offering an in-depth look at the making of the season. The release also includes six extended episodes not seen in the original broadcast. The full list of features is written out below.
The eighth season
bridges the stories between "The Walking Dead" and its spinoff, "Fear the Walking Dead," leading to a battle for freedom paved with casualties and tragedy. Together with the Hilltop and the Kingdom, Rick and the Alexandrians bring “All Out War” to Negan and his forces. The Saviors are larger, better equipped, and ruthless, but Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future. The battle lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action-packed offensive.
Blu-ray/DVD Special Features:
Episode 803 Commentary: Executive Producer Scott Gimple and Writer Matt Negrete
Episode 804 Commentary: Executive Producer Scott Gimple and Director Dan Liu
Episode 816 Commentary: Executive Producer Scott Gimple and Writer Angela Kang
Carl Grimes: Leaving a Legacy Featurette
