Since I'm not reviewing each episode anymore, I have fallen behind on this season of AMC's The Walking Dead – but from what I've seen in the news, it seems like it has been a refreshing one, if only for the fact that it hasn't kept all of the major events contained to the mid-season finale, mid-season premiere, or the season finale. Characters have been killed off or departed the show in episodes that might have just been packed with filler in previous, more predictable seasons. That's why viewers have seen things like Danai Gurira's last episode as Michonne with three episodes left to go in the season.
The Walking Dead will still air as scheduled on March 29th and April 5th, but the season 10 finale will not be airing on April 12th as originally planned. The season is going on hiatus an episode early, with the finale being pushed back to an unspecified date "later this year".
This delay is, of course, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. AMC has said,
Current events have unfortunately made it impossible to complete post-production of The Walking Dead Season 10 finale, so the current season will end with its 15th episode on Sunday, April 5. The planned finale will appear as a special episode later in the year.
At least The Walking Dead actually got to film its season finale. Shows like Supernatural – which will be ending with the finale of its current season – didn't even have the chance to do that. It's frustrating to see these seasons go dark earlier than expected, but it's for the good of the cast and crew that they're not out working in the middle of the pandemic. We'll get to see the ending of these stories eventually.
And I will be catching up on The Walking Dead season 10 by the time the finale airs.
