The Walking Dead casts Xander Berkeley in antagonistic role

The Walking Dead is gearing up for what might be its most explosive season yet (the Wolves are at the door, after all), and so it’s with that in mind that we bring you the news veteran character actor Xander Berkeley has been brought into the show to play an antagonistic role, if not an outright villain.

Before you wonder, no, he’s not playing uber-villain Negan, who fans of the comic know will ultimately show up in the series as the baddie to beat (literally) all baddies.

That said, Berkeley will be playing a character who shares some similarities to Negan, according to TV Line. The guy is described as narcissistic, egotistical and concerned with his own self-preservation.  He’s also said to relish the superiority that comes with being in control, but he plays it off with a car salesman-type charm. Whether or not this character is already in Alexandria or comes from outside the walls remains to be seen.

Berkeley has been in seemingly millions of movies and TV shows, but genre fans will recognize him from TERMINATOR 2, CANDYMAN and BARB WIRE (yeah I said it). Meanwhile, on TV, Berkeley has appeared in 24, Salem, Nikita, Being Human and, most recently, Zoo.
