The Void, from Manborg and Father’s Day directors, absorbs cast

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It’s been far too long since we received an update on THE VOID, the splattery new horror flick from directors Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie (two members of ASTRON-6, the team behind MANBORG and FATHER’S DAY). Back in the winter we exclusively premiered a teaser poster for it, and then gave you a look at the first creepy trailer, but it’s been relatively quiet news-wise as the guys go about building some nightmares. But THE VOID goes on!

In fact, the film commenced production right before Thanksgiving and has piled up a big cast. Aaron Poole (Strange Empire), Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs the World), Art Hindle (The Brood), Kathleen Munroe (Resurrection), Daniel Fathers (Pontypool) and veteran character actor Kenneth Welsh (Survival of the Dead) are all a part of THE VOID, which continues shooting throughout December in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada.

The creature feature, which depicts a lone police officer struggling to protect the staff of an isolated hospital from a violent cult, successfully launched a Indiegogo campaign in February to help fund its extensive practical and in-camera special effects. This is going to be a wonderful freakshow, I just know it.

In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.

Hopefully we’ll be able to enter THE VOID in 2016.

An idea of what’s to come
