Woody Allen’s latest opus, TO ROME WITH LOVE, has debuted it’s new trailer and it’s every bit as whimsy, talky, and beautifully filmed as you’d expect. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin, and of course, Woody Allen in a story about a number of people in Italy, some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors, and the romances and adventures and predicaments they get into.
When in Rome:
This definitely feels like a follow up to MIDNIGHT IN PARIS to me with the same Woody Allen comedic fare we’re accustomed to. He’s kind of like Larry David-lite (or Larry David is Woody Allen on steroids) in that he always maintains a balance even in the most heated situations within his films. It’s kind of balletic, really. He is definitely a master of his craft, the auteur of the sitting, standing, and talking movie.
As always, a great cast and with a fun “travel” theme going on, I think Woody Allen is once again showing that we can count on him to deliver what he does best. Also, Penelope Cruz, red dress, fully paid for? Hmmm, let me think about that one…
TO ROME WITH LOVE opens on April 20, 2012.
