The first trailer for Robert Redford’s thriller THE COMPANY YOU KEEP is kind of like a surprise goodie-bag of stars, as it reveals a new star every few seconds while progressing to the end. It’s like The Price Is Right, with the curtains being pulled back to show one new prize after another. You’ve got Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, and Shia LeBeouf at first, but then the onslaught of stars come rolling in with Anna Kendrick, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, Brendan Gleeson, Terrance Howard, Richard Jenkins, and Sam Elliott. If that cast doesn’t sell you, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Go on the run with Redford:
Redford hasn’t been onscreen since his last directing effort, LIONS FOR LAMBS, but it looks like he brought his jogging shoes for this one, making a much more fast-paced flick than we’ve seen from the actor since Tony Scott’s SPY GAME. You’ve got to love that cast and the story has got some resonance with current affairs, making it look like more than just another chase flick.
Here’s the synopsis:
Jim Grant (Redford), a civil rights lawyer and single father must go on the run when a brash young reporter (LaBeouf), exposes his true identity as a former 1970s radical fugitive wanted for murder. Sparking a nationwide manhunt, Grant sets off on a cross-country journey to clear his name.
THE COMPANY YOU KEEP is currently showing at TIFF and will hit theaters on November 15, 2012.
