The Tomorrow War clip: Chris Pratt battles alien invaders this weekend

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Chris Pratt alien invasion movie The Tomorrow War is going to be released through the Amazon Prime streaming service this Friday, July 2nd, and today we've gotten our hands on a short clip from the film that sets up the action. The 60 second clip, followed by a trailer for the film, can be seen in the video embedded above.

Developed and produced by Skydance Media, The Tomorrow War was directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Zach Dean (24 Hours to Live) and Bill Dubuque (Ozark). In the film,

the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher Dan Forester (Pratt), who teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) to rewrite the fate of the planet.

The clip above shows the moment when the time travelers from 2051 arrive with their "urgent message".

Pratt, Strahovski, and Simmons are joined in the cast by Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Jasmine Mathews, Edwin Hodge, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Keith Powers, and Mary Lynn Rajskub.

David S. Goyer produced the film with Jules Daly, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Adam Kolbrenner. Samantha Nisenboim was co-producer. Pratt served as executive producer alongside Rob Cowan, Bradley J. Fischer, and Brian Oliver.

The Tomorrow War looks to me like it will be a decently entertaining way to pass a couple hours. It's not something I'll be rushing to watch this weekend, but I'll get around to it at some point in the near future.

McKay is best known for directing The Lego Batman Movie and episodes of Robot Chicken. This is his first live-action feature since his debut film 2wks, 1yr, which was released in 2002.
