Word is that the trailer for the Chris Pratt alien invasion movie The Tomorrow War is going to be showing up online tomorrow, and in anticipation of that the Prime Video Twitter account has unveiled a batch of first look images, which can be seen below. The Tomorrow War is scheduled to be released through the Amazon Prime streaming service on July 2nd.
Developed and produced by Skydance Media, The Tomorrow War was directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Zach Dean and Bill Dubuque. In the film,
the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher Dan Forester (Pratt), who teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) to rewrite the fate of the planet.
Pratt, Strahovski, and Simmons are joined in the cast by Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, and Mary Lynn Rajskub.
When this was first announced, I was under the impression that the time travelers were going to be plucking soldiers from different periods throughout history. Judging by the synopsis, it sounds like they only get their recruits from 2021. That's a bit disappointing compared to the other idea, but I'm still on board to check this out.
