It’s time for a new episode of our video game-themed video series Playing with Fear, and in this one we’re looking at Terminator video games – but since there are quite a few of those, we decided to narrow the scope a bit. In the video embedded above, we’re looking specifically at the games that were based on the original 1984 film, The Terminator (watch it HERE).
Written and directed by James Cameron, The Terminator has the following synopsis:
Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape.
Episodes in the Playing with Fear series take
a look at the most impactful, successful, and scariest video games throughout the history of the medium and deciding if they’re still worth playing today.
Playing with Fear is Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
I have played some Terminator games, but none of the ones that were based on the first movie. (The one that got the most play from me was RoboCop Versus The Terminator on Super Nintendo.) So this Playing with Fear episode gave me information on games I wasn’t familiar with before.
