It looks like the man who pulled Sylvester Stallone into the MCU is doing the same thing for the DCEU! Sly himself revealed, via a since-deleted Instagram video (uh-oh), that he was on his way to do a little work on James Gunn's highly anticipated THE SUICIDE SQUAD. No word yet on what the role might entail, but given the fact that filming officially wrapped in February, and that Stallone, in his post, claimed to have already seen the film, one can assume it's a tiny part similar to what he did in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 2.
Even still, it's a treat to think that Sly could potentially put in an appearance in what will no doubt be a game-changer for the DCEU. While it won't be out until next summer, Warner Bros is bullish enough on the franchise that John Cena's already been signed to headline an HBO Max Peacemaker series. Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney all return in their original roles opposite new castmembers including Cena, Idris Elba, Pete Davidson, and more. THE SUICIDE SQUAD comes out on August 21st, 2021.
Gunn himself later confirmed the news via Twitter:
Always love working with my friend @TheSlyStallone & our work today on #TheSuicideSquad was no exception. Despite Sly being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is. ???? pic.twitter.com/LFVBoxscKR
