Who's ready for a rumble in the jungle because the official synopsis for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is here!
Warner Bros. revealed the official synopsis on Wednesday, which points to Task Force X embarking on a new mission that takes them to a remote location. If you ask me, today's synopsis doesn't necessarily tell us anything we didn't already know about the film, but it does give that information Warner Bros.' seal of approval.
You'll find the official synopsis for The Suicide Squad below:
Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Bell Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out — even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today's do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone's favorite pyscho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.
DC Comics fans are likely to recognize the island of Corto Maltese as it was at one point the location of a rebel uprising against the government, which was endorsed by the United States. Superman was deployed by the U.S. President to ease tensions, but once he'd arrived at the remote location, the Soviet Union launched a nuclear missile at the U.S. While it's unlikely that Superman will appear in the film, it never hurts to know a little bit of comic book history when walking into these movies.
The Suicide Squad touches down in select theaters and on HBO Max on August 4, 2021.
