The Stranger trailer: home invasion film from Evil Dead Rise concept artist now on VOD

The horror sub-genres of tentacle horror and home invasion thrills collide in the film The Stranger, which is now available on all VOD platforms in the United States. This movie marks the feature directorial debut of Mike Clarke, who previously directed multiple short films, and Paul Gerrard, who has worked as a concept artist on a couple dozen projects, including the upcoming Evil Dead film Evil Dead Rise. To get a preview of what Clarke and Gerrard have brought to the screen together, check out the trailer for The Stranger in the embed above.

Clarke and Gerrard also wrote The Stranger together, crafting the following story:

After the murder of her husband, Amanda relocates with her daughter, Karli, and purchases a hotel in the countryside. Their fresh start is interrupted by the arrival of a mysterious man who pleads for shelter, fleeing an unknown threat.

The film stars Damien Ashley (Love’s Innocence Lost), Jennifer K Preston (The Wheel of Time), Isabella Percival (Closing Time), Jake Francis (Witches of Amityville Academy), Lindy Pieri (Our Town), Wendy Laurence James (Once a Year on Blackpool Sands), Phil Gwilliam (The Gridiron), Iona Mckeown (Pumpkins), Kyle Brookes (A Light Through Coloured Glass), David Faulkner (Out of Time), Amelie Leroy (The Midwich Cuckoos), Luke Richards (The Spawning), Francesca Louise White (King of Crime), Tony Moran (of the short film Exhibits, not the one who was in the original Halloween), and newcomer Rahula Armstrong.

The Stranger looks pretty interesting to me, so I might have to check it out on VOD one of these days. The movie will also be receiving a DVD release at an unspecified date.

In addition to Evil Dead Rise, Gerrard’s other concept art credits include Battle Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Hellboy, His Dark Materials, and Indiana Jones 5.
