The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight to star Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy

Prepare to get your swoon on because Netflix has acquired the global rights to the YA romance film The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight. The feature project hails from ACE Entertainment, the same outfit that produced the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise. In addition to landing the rights to the story, Haley Lu Richardson, Ben Hardy, Jameela Jamil, Rob Delaney, Dexter Fletcher, and Sally Phillips have joined the cast. Vanessa Caswill directs from a script written by Katie Lovejoy.

The script for The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight is based on the novel of the same name by Jennifer E. Smith. The story revolves around Hadley and Oliver, two people who fall for one another while flying from New York to London; only things get complicated when they separate upon landing. When faced with the probability of ever finding each other again, love will need to defy impossible odds to win the day.

Matt Kaplan is producing through his ACE Entertainment label, with Max Siemers, Matthew Janzen, and Aubrey Bendix overseeing the endeavor.

Romantic comedies are on the rise again, thanks to streaming platforms revitalizing the genre for YA audiences. In addition to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Netflix is home to Heartstopper, a perfect page-to-screen adaptation of the Webtoon series from Alice Oseman. It’s a fact that love exists in many forms, and sometimes you need to watch something that will warm your heart.
